Wearing A Corset
Putting On/Taking Off A Corset Re-Lacing A Corset Caring For A Corset Tips For Wearing A Corset Avoid wearing panty hose under your corset. Because panty hose are tight and stretchy, they will be difficult to pull down when the corset is laced tight. If you wish to wear hosiery with a skirt, then thigh-high stockings or stockings with a garter belt will provide more comfort and accessibility. All of Scarlett's Corsets have loops for garters. A strapless bra works well under see-through tops. Because the corset tends to push you up, bra straps will be looser and fall down. If you do wear a bra with straps, adjust the straps to take up the slack. Tops made of thinner material will work the best under a corset. Any style top can be worn, but avoid bulky clothing. If wearing pants or jeans, low-rise will be easier to remove. The pants will also be more flattering, if they fit snugly in the hips. The corset can be worn with full or straight skirts. Fuller skirts give you much flexibility and accentuate the hourglass look. If you wear a straight skirt, you may want to adjust any resulting gathers or material puckering. Change the lacing for a different look. Shoestring lacing may be changed for ribbons to give a basic corset a dressier look (see lacing instructions). A casual corset may be personalized by changing the shoestring for a ribbon or two ribbons of different colors. I recommend 5 - 5 1/2 yards of ribbon for sizes 20 - 22; 6 - 6 1/2 yards of ribbon is used for sizes 24 & 26; 7 - 8 yards is used for sizes 28 & 30; 9 - 12 yards is used for size 34 and. 38. You may want to use more yardage to make it easier to hook your busk. |
